Who is speaking when AI answers you?

An AI without sources tells the story of its creators.

An AI with sources tells the one that someone has verified and signed.

Eiger Vault makes sure your AI relies on identified sources, recognised at their true value.

Our findings

AI assistants increasingly answer in place of news sites. They draw on the work of newsrooms, most often without their consent, without naming them and without paying them.
Media outlets are losing their traffic. Users, for their part, receive answers built from freely accessible headlines and standfirsts rather than from the articles themselves: they look sourced but remain approximate.
The few agreements concluded between media and AI providers are opaque, poorly paid and reserved for a handful of large groups. Regional and local media, whose fieldwork is essential to democracy, are left out.

Our answer, in three steps

1

Licensed media

Publishers grant us, by contract, access to their content. Every article is dated and sealed on receipt. We never alter the original text.

2

Grounded answers

Within an organisation, an AI tool receives a question about current affairs or local interest (“How are the cantons reacting to the rise in premiums?”, “Which companies are currently using short-time work?”). Instead of answering from memory, the tool queries Eiger Vault. We read the relevant articles in full and write a fact-dense synthesis: every sentence rests on a verified excerpt. When the sources are not enough, we say so.

3

Payment based on actual use

We deliver only the synthesis, its sources and a few short quotes. The full article too, but only if it is paid for. Every sentence of the answer that rests on a publisher’s text is paid to that publisher.

Valuing sources, guiding AI better.

Diagram: media articles, entrusted under contract, enter Eiger Vault, which produces an answer in which every sentence points to a source; every excerpt used is paid to its publisher.

We read everything, we deliver almost nothing, and what we deliver is paid for.

Our commitments

For publishers

You are paid every time a sentence of the answer rests on an excerpt from your publication. Your full text never leaves unless it is purchased. You stay in control: withdrawal or erasure at any time. You receive a detailed analysis of how your content is used.

For organisations

You need professional press information, licensed and ready for your AI agents or your staff. We deliver syntheses in which every sentence is sourced, monitoring from the moment of publication, and rather no answer than an invented one. Your questions remain yours: hosting in Switzerland, no history of your searches kept by default.

What we are

A trusted intermediary between the media and AI.

We sit between publishers and AI systems, and make the use of journalism traceable, verifiable and paid.

A vault.

Every article received is stored, dated and sealed: proof that it existed, in this version, on this date.

A supplier of grounded answers.

Every sentence we deliver rests on a real excerpt, checked before it is served. No sentence without a source.

A verifiable ledger.

Every sentence based on a piece of content is recorded, attributed and paid. A publisher can trace every centime.

Multilingual by nature.

A question in French finds an article in German, and the quote stays in the publisher’s language.

A Swiss infrastructure.

Hosted in Switzerland, with Swiss providers.

What we are not

Not a consumer service.

We address companies and organisations first. Our solution is not aimed at the general public, and we do not come between media outlets and their subscribers.

Not a chatbot.

We do not converse with users and do not replace the AI our clients use: we supply them with source material.

Not a corpus reseller.

We do not hand publishers’ archives in bulk to AI labs. The full text never leaves our vault without being paid for, article by article.

Not a source of training data.

Publishers’ content is never used to train a generative AI model, and we require the same of those who receive our answers.

Not a search engine.

We do not sell a search, but a quality, licensed answer: professional press, traced, and paid to those who wrote it.

Not a data broker.

We do not resell what our clients look for. The text of their questions is not stored, and the link between a client and what they have read is severed every evening, unless the client asks to keep it.

Not a collective management society.

Each publisher signs with us directly and remains the owner of its content.

AI must not plunder media content.
It must put its power at their service.

Eiger Vault was born of this conviction. Our rule fits in one sentence:
every use is attributed, every attribution is paid.

Media and technology, together.
